The Dainty Dipper Branding Guide

Company:

The Dainty Dipper is a West Virginia based company that specializes in hand-made plant, animal, and nature themed artwork. Working with polymer clay, resin, wood, paper, and sublimation there is something for every plant and animal lover. From bookmarks to stickers to wall décor, and so much more. The Dainty Dipper is owned by a nature loving artist who wants to share their art with the world.

Overview:

Create a branding guide to be used with advertising and marketing. Create brand logo and color scheme to be used on business cards, online banners, and packaging.

Problem:

Lack of branding for company to use in marketing materials And lack of branding guide for consistent graphics.

Opportunity:

Create a brightly colored infographic logo, banner, and brand identity to be used for marketing materials, packaging, and social media graphics.

Design Process:

The Dainty Dipper started out as a calligraphy art illustrator. So I took inspiration from their love of bright colors including purple, blue and teal to create a logo that showcased calligraphy. I created a ink-blob followed by the company name and ended with a calligraphy pen nib. This was for the logo to look like it was just written across the page. I added in a watercolor wash to the text to enhance the color loving artist.

Additional Design Process:

I also designed a smaller logo that would be used for marketing materials such as stickers and stamps to be used on artworks. I wanted a balanced design and took inspiration from calligraphy flourishes to add some flair. I wanted everything to fit together like a puzzle, so I made the brand name intertwine to fill up the circle effortlessly like one continuous stroke of the pen.

The Final Product:

Client was happy with the end results and used the design for business cards, packaging, and stickers.

Overview:

2 Years later, client reached out again and wished for a re-design as their business is expanding to more art mediums and wanted the branding to reflect the change.

Problem:

Brand graphics are not reflecting new brand art mediums and change.

Opportunity:

Re-design branding, logo, and graphics to represent added art mediums and brand change.

Design Process:

Client loved the circle logo for brand, so I decided to keep that design and incorporate that into their new logo. Client wanted to showcase all of their mediums they are now passionate about, not just calligraphy. So I compiled all of their projects, mediums, and interests and created a repeating pattern of small icons. Each icon represents something the artist loves or uses to create their art. I kept a similar color scheme to their original color choices.

The Final Product:

Client loved the small icons with the added original logo. This became their new brand theme used on business cards, social media graphics, and stickers.
